Tell ‘Em Sister
May 14, 2008Considering J just made fun of me for the fact that I hung a Rosie the Riveter poster in my college dorm room, I thought this magnet was hysterical and appropriate (via Kitchn). Only $5 on Etsy!

Dining and Design
April 7, 2008The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS launched its 11th national tour of dining installations. I really love this one—it’s completely covered in knit yarn from the table to chairs to the walls. It’s designed by the Rockwell Group. But, I’d probably spill my glass of red wine all over the place. Which dining option speaks to you most?

Food Landscapes
January 7, 2008
Check out these beautiful “foodscapes” by London-based artist, Carl Warner (link thanks to YumSugar). Everything is made out of food - the trees, the hot-air balloons, everything! The pic below even has a prosciutto river!! (is he reading my dreams?) When you go to his site, click on Fotographics and then the second briefcase to see all the pieces.

How Delish Does This Look?
January 4, 2008Just another reason to love Barcelona, one of my favorite cities in the world. These beautiful parfaits from Bubo are (from left to right):
- Strawberry Cream, Cheese Mousse, Rhubarb Compote and Strawberry Gelatin
- Bittersweet Chocolate Cream, Lime Gel, Macadamia Nut Streussel and Praline Mousse
- Light Lychee Cream and Brilliance of Strawberry and Raspberry A La Vanilla
Yums, right? Link thanks to Oh Joy!

Go Fish!

Got any crackers? Go fish! Check out this glass, Goldfish Candy Dish from Home Wet Bar (via YumSugar).

Time for Tea!
November 2, 2007How pretty is this tea-cup and kettle (via Serious Eats)? It’s getting colder, and the trees are losing all their leaves, and I’m in the mood for some hot tea, warm blankets, and continual screenings of Love Actually. These daydreams make the impending cold weather bearable.

I Forgot About the Environment Yesterday!
October 16, 2007Yesterday was Blog Action Day, and I had signed up and promised to post something eco-friendly on my blog. And… I forgot. So, I thought better late than never. Here’s one of my favorite eco-living places to shop for kitchen goodies: VivaTerra. They sell handcrafted work that is from the “purest ingredients and sustainable resources possible.” Plus, everything’s pretty. I really love the Root of the Earth bowls, baskets, and platters—they’re hand-carved from the discarded root balls of Chinese fir trees into varied shaped bowls. It looks a lot like the decor I saw at Irving Mill last night!
